" The strategy in communications is not to sell the 1/4″-inch drill bit, but the 1/4″-inch hole." — Robert Louey   Signage, collateral, wayfinding, graphics have quite a few ways to get a very important job done. What can't be done totally by space or form needs the proper focus graphics gives. In the largest form it becomes an artform on its own. Bugs and marks on business cards to 600 foot long tunnels, space doesn't exist very well without graphics.

" Content precedes design. Design in the absence of content is not design, it’s decoration." — Jeffrey Zeldman   Sometimes I just design for the fun of it. There may be a special reason or occasion or celebration. Some of my greatest satisfaction has come from simply giving someone a hand made card. This same joy infuses my promotional materials. From the heart is always the best way to show you're engaged and care.

" Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Design is knowing which ones to keep." — Scott Adams   The consistent element in space planning/design is functionality before any extraneous detail. You have to make the cake before you can ice it. Following are some projects ranging from kiosk sized space to major retailers. Examples include planning and working design, FF&E, signage and ancillary graphics.

According to Websters, an avocation is "something a person does in addition to a principal occupation, especially for pleasure..."   A designer with an avocation is almost an oxymoron but my distraction is making clocks and toys. RIGHT HEMISPHERE DESIGN was started after I made a clock for friends who'd just had a baby. He is a rocket scientist and a space theme seemed the perfect baby present. The rest is history and the clock/toy business sprung to life.   Click righthemispheredesign.com to see the clocks, both for sale and what's on the drawing board.   And a new interest has made it's way into the RIGHT HEMISPHERE DESIGN creative group, RHD Bonsai.  Cement and ceramic pots designed to accentuate any plant material from air plants to shohin sized bonsai. Nature inspired finishes and custom orders taken.   Click RHDbonsai.com to see the range of pots and colors.
